Earthquake at Roseton

There was a small change in Roseton this weekend. The two modules making up the main section of Roseton were split apart and a small module was installed between these modules. This was done to allow the addition of another spur line to service Reg's Fine Leathers. Beside the new spur, this change also lenghten the round around tracks by another car length.

Crews were also busy installing wheel stops at all industries.

WRS History

This version of the WRS is made up modules that I displayed with the UMG. Instead of letting these modules collect dust in my basement, I chose to set them up to form a small switching layout.

The object is to allow me to develop a few things, before the larger version of the WRS is build. One of these things is switching operations. I plan to work with a couple different methods of card forwarding and train scheduling methods, to see which one I want to develop for the larger layout. Another is to spend more time working with the "Darkside" control system so I can better understand what it can do. Just using it only every three or four months, as I was doing, did not let you learn what it could do.

I am hoping to improve the scenery on the modules. There was things I would have liked to do to improve the modules, but they were taking too much of beating every time they left the basement. The same goes for the buildings, loco and rolling stock, which I am hoping also to make improvements to.

Time will tell how much of this plan happens.

WRS & DCC

Tonight I installed two new UP5 on the layout and completed installing the other cable jacks to allow me now to plug in around the complete layout.

The WRS uses the Digitrax Chief for the command station with a PM4 to create four power zones on the layout. ( I know it over kill, but I had one on hand, so why not use it) The layout has three UP5s and one UP91 for radio control.

Handhelds for the layout are 2 DT100R, 1 UT1, 1 UT4 and 1 UT4R.
